If you could only do one thing to improve, your smile what would it be? If you only had one day to change your smile, what would you do?
For many people, the answer to both questions is the same — professional teeth whitening.
And we did specify professional whitening for a reason. Commercial products are not as effective (for various reasons).
We know the science behind it. We also know from the many, many patients who have come to our office seeking “real” teeth whitening after they were disappointed in their results with the stuff in the toothpaste aisle.
Teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental service in the United States, and it’s one of the most popular services at our dentist office in Reading, MA, too.

For The Fastest Result, Try In-Office Whitening
If you are looking to whiten your smile for a special event — a wedding, a graduation, a class reunion — then you may not want to spend weeks waiting and hoping to see results.
For you, our in-office teeth whitening is the best bet. In a single visit to our office, your teeth could be shades whiter, and your smile could be noticeably brighter.
We offer two in-office products.
The first is Sapphire teeth whitening. This is a two-step process meant to give you the best possible results.
First, we apply a professional-strength gel to your teeth. This can lead to whiter smiles on its own, but we kick it up a notch. Exposing the gel to our Sapphire Plasma Arc Curing Light gives the gel a boost so your treatment can be even more effective.
For patients with sensitive teeth, a different option may be more appropriate. That’s why we also offer Lumibrite.
This product includes a desensitizing agent to reduce the increased tooth sensitivity that some patients experience after a professional whitening session.
If you already have sensitive teeth, ask if Lumibrite might be right for you.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening
If you aren’t in a rush or you just prefer a do-it-yourself approach, we also offer take-home teeth whitening products.
With Sapphire’s take-home product, we start by creating a custom-fitted set of bleaching trays. Then, all you have to do is use the product as directed.
This won’t work as quickly as our in-office treatment, but it will give you a whiter smile in a short amount of time.
Lumibrite’s take-home option (Lumibrite white) is another great product who want to do their teeth whitening on their own schedule.
Last but not least, we also have a professional version of Crest Whitestrips. This is stronger than the Whitestrips you can get at the store, but it is a cost effective alternative to our whitening gel products.
The Best Time For Teeth Whitening
A great time to whiten your smile is after a professional dental cleaning. During a cleaning at First Dental Associates, we will remove any plaque and tartar from your smile.
By removing the surface stains in your teeth, our professional whitening products can go deeper to remove the harder to reach stains from your smile.
Plus, keeping your teeth will keep them healthy, which is also good for your smile. Teeth whitening can remove stains from your teeth, but it’s not as effective on teeth that are discolored due to tooth decay and cavities.
If you haven’t had a cleaning in a while, ask about a cleaning and whitening at First Dental Associates.
