A small town vibe with big city benefits.

When you think of the ideal place to live, what do you envision? If you dream of a small town with ample natural areas, bustling small businesses, and plenty of family-friendly things to do, then you’ll love Reading, MA!

We’re admittedly big fans of our town, but there are tons of reasons why we know you’ll love it, too. Today, we’re sharing some of the most loved parts of Reading, MA which happens to include our office!

1. Reading, MA is pet-friendly.

There’s nothing like the companionship of a four-legged pal! If you love to take your dog on adventures, you’ll appreciate that Reading has lots of areas where you can let Fido freely explore.

Take Reading Town Forest, for example. This 290-acre site includes miles of hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails, offering something for everyone in your family, including your furry friend. Dogs are welcome to walk off-leash here, so pack a picnic and plan to make a day of it!

While there are other off-leash dog parks around Reading, including many in Boston, this is a great local spot, and it’s right in town. You’ll always have a great place to take your pup for a day of play.

2. The people are warm.

Spend a few hours walking around downtown Reading and you’ll discover that there’s a certain type of warmth and geniality woven into our population.

From independently owned boutiques and gift shops to diners and mom-and-pop hardware stores, our local small businesses are the heartbeat of our town. Stop in and browse, and you’ll soon find yourself settling in for a chat. Though Reading population growth is currently rising, it still maintains a high degree of small-town charm.

3. Outdoor activities are plentiful.

Looking for an easy, flat stroll that’s perfect for the littlest members of your family? Or, are you more interested in a rigorous hike that will reward your exertion with incredible views? Either way, you’ll find it in Reading.

This handy Trail Map Library can help you find outdoor spots, conservation areas, and trails when you’re ready to head outdoors. There’s also a Walkable Reading group that can help you explore local neighborhoods by foot!

4. Lots of family-friendly recreation.

Are you itching to find a place where your children can get involved in their community, grow their talents, and spend a little less time in front of the screen?

Reading not only boasts an excellent public school system, but there are also many opportunities for young learners to expand their minds through the town’s Recreation Division. From 3D design and app inventions to Java programming, these clubs and classes help school-aged children discover more about the interests that drive them.

In addition, you can also find other places to grow as a family in Reading. Whether your crew loves adventure ropes courses, escape rooms, or classic arcades, you’re sure to find a great spot to plug in as you unplug.
